Three Quarters

Nine Months.

That is how old Max is TODAY.

Happy 3/4 Birthday Max!

Max can now sit himself up. He also has started to pull himself up on furniture. Look out world, here he comes!

Check out this video and see what else Max can do:

I cannot believe my tiny 4lb 14oz baby has gotten so big already (21lb 6oz,+)! It doesn't seem real that in 3 months we will be celebrating his first birthday.

Remember when....

An hour after birth............................................................under the Bili lights.........................

preemie clothes were too big!

This is what 6:34 a.m. looked like for me.

Don't you just want to gobble him up?

How was your Sunday morning?

Was it this delicious?

Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family. ~Anthony Brandt

"Here I come to save the day!" ~Superman....or was that Mighty Mouse?

High Maintenance

Max screams. You remember me mentioning this before, right?

Well, it's getting better, but not gone yet. Mornings are rough, I'm home by myself getting Max and myself ready to head out the door while trying to get some one-on-one playtime in too. Lately, Max has been wanting to be in the same vincity as me (as in constant contact) when I'm getting ready whereas he used to be content playing nearby. Can any of you get ready one handed? I didn't think so...and no, doing it in +++ hours time does not count. Yes, I know I shouldn't cater to this behaviour, but the SCREAMING (-->shivers in distaste).

Sweet SUCCESS
I have found my reprieve: sitting Max in the sink and letting him play there while I get ready (besides taking the pics I'm usually standing right in front of him...SAFETY people!). Anyway, this morning Max found out how to turn on the water (accident, not design). Oh, the joy. A little background information: Max has recently decided that diaper and outfit changes are the end of the world. So, due to his ingenuity, he had an extra outfit and diaper change this morning.

Total outfit changes: 2 Total diaper changes: 3

Max plays with one of his favorite toys, an empty water bottle.
(Thank you to everyone who spent $$$ on toys for Max; they really add color to my living room decor!)

This is so great Mom, thanks for the opportunity to be so near water! Now, if only it were a real bath...

Doesn't he seem very smug about what he did?

In other news, ?? over at The New Black says that her cars name is Stupid (honey, give yourself a name too!). Well, if that's true, then Mike's car (aka my old car) is named "Money-sucking POS that needs to run for another year before dying a quick death at the junkyard." Too long? I'll work on it. More on this in another post. Perhaps Mike will do that update an dazzle you with his word wrangling.

Happy day to you.

A Trophy Winner

This weekend was probably the least busy we've been since before Christmas...and we weren't even home! Saturday Mike helped our friends move to their new digs. We'll have to visit soon so that I can check it out. While he was slaving away, Max and I visited Matt and Jill and the boys. Today, Sheldon participated in a wrestling tournement. Mommo and Poppo came down to watch, and Mike and I went too. Sheldon did really well, taking third in his weight class. We all had a good time watching the various matches. It's incredible what these little kids can do!

Also, I've spent some time with my blog this weekend and made a few updates. Hope you enjoy the extras!

Here Sheldon is taking the honor he is due:

Sheldon,
We are very proud of your accomplishment! Hope you had as much fun as we did : )

The family is one of nature's masterpieces. ~George Santayana, The Life of Reason

Here's what we look like almost every night. Daddy still in his work uniform, Max drooling all over his pj's and me ready for us to all go to bed.

Here are a couple pics from the weekend for your viewing pleasure.

Max's cousins got a puppy for Xmas. Max wasn't sure what to think of Cheyanne's interest in him (Jill, sp?).

Max did finally figure out that puppy kisses are only fun for so long. This is a pretty good pic of Cheyanne's face (again, Jill...sp?)

Did you know?

Max now has 3, count 'em 3, teeth. His top left tooth has made it's final appearance.

Max pretends to swim in the bath.

Max likes to pull himself up to the standing position when in the bathtub.

Max cannot stand not to be eating whatever you happen to eat in front of him.

Max now successfully drinks from the sippy cup.

Max still cannot hold the sippy cup and successfully drink at the same time.

Max has decided that smiles and SCREAMING and lunging/leaning are the best forms of communication.

Mommy and Daddy are doing their best to hang on to sanity while coping with the screaming and lunging/leaning tendancies of said offspring.

Now you know.

I love stealing other people's great ideas, don't you? Sam over at My Tiny Speck of Life...Magnified mooched this idea from another blog; I fell in love with the idea, so I am doing the same. The idea steal is this: every week in 2009 I am going to get my family together for a self portrait. You'll get to see our little fam in all our randomness! Plus, in the end I'll have a years worth of photos to reflect on.

So, I read about this idea after the new year and thus we got a little bit of a late start. I set the timer on this last night. So, with no further ado, here is week 1's photo op:

The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family. ~Thomas Jefferson

You know I can't post just one:

Bruiser

Well, it's official. Mr. Max has gotten his first shiner. That barrel full of monkeys was no match for my baby. Alas, that barrel (the lid rather) was not going to let Max roll away unmarked. Check out the new colors he's sporting these days:

Not to be laid low by the battle, enjoy this tale of flavor brought to you by: Gerber and Fisher Price, as retold by Mr. Hanson to the Mrs:

While enjoying his chicken with apples Max turned his head and smeared his food (with his face) onto the side of his highchair. He turned back to Daddy and smiled, turned his head back to the food opened up, stuck his tongue out and licked his chair clean. Upon completion of this task, he turned back to Daddy, smiled and giggled as if to say, " ......... ,,,,m s3czxb vX ygv , ,, , hn nb n "*.

*No, I don't know exactly what that means. I didn't type it for you. Yes, that was Max sharing his thoughts with you. Notice he is fond of the space bar.

Xmas Update #2

First, HAPPY NEW YEAR! We rang in 2009 with Chris and Karyn. It was great; I smell a new tradition coming on! More on our good times later.

Our second Xmas was spent with the Hanson's. A good time was had by all. We had the pleasure of welcoming Matt and Mel home on Xmas day. Grandma Pam was especially pleased to have everyone home for the holiday. We were there from the 24th thru the 26th. Max got spoiled, but thankfully wasn't too bad about readjusting to real life : )

I think I have figured out the slide show thing. There are lots of pics, I'm sure as I get the hang of it I will get better at creating them. Pictured are Grandma and Grandpa Hanson, Matt and Mel (brunettes), Chris and Karyn, Mike and I and Max. It starts on the 24th with Xmas at our house, and then moves onto Gma and Gpa's house. The reindeer outfit=Xmas Eve; the red and white outfit (& pjs)=Xmas day. Enjoy! And please let me know what you think!
